“Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.” John Muir

In my opinion there is no better way to enjoy the vibrant colors, crisp air and quiet of fall than on the trail. Below are some incredible fall hikes in and around Portland all offering gorgeous colors.

Ape Canyon: Mountain Views;  Moderate to Difficult; 11 miles long; Early October
Cape Horn: Mountain/River Views/Waterfall; Moderate; 6.3 miles; Mid-October
Hoyt Arboretum: Portland’s Museum of Living Trees; Easy; September- Early November
Opal Creek: Old Growth Forest with Creeks and Pool; Up to 10 miles; Easy; Mid-October
Salmon River: Watch the Salmon Spawning: Easy to Moderate; Up to 6.6 miles; October
Silver Falls State Park: Forest and Waterfalls; Easy to Moderate; Up to 7 miles; October
Trapper Creek Wilderness: Quiet/Waterfalls/Creeks; Easy to Difficult; Up to 14.5 miles; October
