real estate & community news

I am regularly asked, “How’s business?”  In other words, “What is happening in the Portland market and should I be excited or concerned?” According to others, I am a walking-talking real estate barometer. My answer to that question right now is…

“this little piggy went to the market.”

That might sound horrifying and dark but my interpretation is a quite different than expected.

Did you know that it is The Year of the Pig? “According to the Chinese astrology, 2019 is a great year to make money, and a good year to invest! 2019 is going to be full of joy, a year of friendship and love for all the zodiac signs; an auspicious year because the Pig attracts success in all the spheres of life.” …. including real estate.

I am excited about 2019!!! Not because there will not be change or challenge but because it will be full of opportunity! Opportunities for buyers will increase and perhaps those who became fatigued from the aggressive seller’s market will re-enter the market. Sellers will still benefit from a higher than national average appreciation rate and the asset of owning real estate on the west coast. The opportunity to “move-up” will become more achievable with more inventory.

Real estate is synonymous with change. Values and interest rates fluctuate continuously. We live in a city where 89 people migrate here a day so the demand for housing is still very real and many people want to live in a single family home. Demand vs. supply is a major indicator for price.

For the first time in my life, I created a vision board for 2019. I wrote a check out to myself for “unlimited abundance” not knowing that The Year of the Pig” was upon us. I am ready to ride this roller-coaster of change with my eyes wide-open, hands up in the air and a smile on my face. Want to come along with me? With that said…

The little piggy went wee, wee, wee all the way home…..
