WHAT’S THE BIG NEWS IN PORTLAND?
Sunshine Baby!!!

You have to be a Portlander to understand the impact of this news.

It’s been a LONG, wet, cold winter and this week the sun burst out bringing temps in the high 80’s for two glorious days. Portlanders stripped down to partial nakedness soaking up the available Vitamin D. Shoppers poured out of nurseries with overflowing carts full of flowers and veggie starts looking like the lineup of sugar ants in my kitchen carrying off crumbs from behind my stove.

The weather has a real effect on real estate. New listings seemed to be popping up non-stop and buyers are flooding open houses. Bring it on spring!

Inventory is on the Up & Up!
After a sleepy start, the Portland spring housing market is in full swing.
New listings are up almost 50% from one month ago. Prices have seemed to stabilize for now. We put a beautiful new listing on the market yesterday and the response has almost been frenetic. Buyers are ready to buy and multiple offers are common on well-priced, well-prepared homes.

NATIONALLY WHO IS SHAKING THINGS UP?

Redfin Says Get Back Into the Office
Have you been wondering what’s going to happen to all of that downtown office space in your city?
An Inman News Article reported that Redfin CEO Glen Kelman announced that staff living within 20 miles of their Seattle, San Francisco and Frisco locations must work in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with no exceptions other than medical. He cited that the driving force behind the decision is the recognition that company culture has suffered as a result of remote working. It will be interesting to see how other influential companies handle this issue.
A Real Estate Icon Passes the Baton
Sherry Chris, CEO of Anywhere Expansion Brands Retires

Sherry is a real estate titan and pioneer for women leadership in real estate. If you aren’t familiar with Anywhere, think Coldwell Banker, Century 21, Sotheby’s, Better Homes & Gardens.

I met Sherry in 2015 on a prep call with a group of powerful national brokerage leaders. We were soon to be taking the stage together at the Inman Connect Conference in SF. I was branded YogaBug at the time but did not yet own my brokerage and within seconds of the start of that call I realized that I was a fish out of water. Sherry gracefully included me despite the situation and continued to support my business over the years as I grew into the role of Broker/Owner. She is a class act who blends brilliance, boldness with true compassion and caring. She changed my career.

MY PERSONAL BIG NEWS

An Unexpected Proposal

What was there really to think about?

My friend Karen called me on Thursday as I was driving around Mt. Hood headed to a trailhead and said, “Hey I am going to Patagonia next year to do a 10-day trek through the wilderness and I thought you might like to come.” Within seconds “YES!!!” rang through my being.  It is going to be a trip of a life-time. Ten days hiking through some of the most beautiful country in the world. I can’t wait to bring you the Portland Real Estate Update from Patagonia!
